Due to our desire to provide all customers with the best possible experience, the following terms and conditions are non-negotiable. Thank you in advance for reviewing them carefully.
Day Old Chicks
When purchasing day old chicks, the minimum order quantity is 10. This ensures adequate warmth in the box during shipping. Feel free to mix and match from all of our breeds.
We offer a 48-hour live chick guarantee.
If any birds ordered arrive deceased, or expire in the first 48 hours upon arrival, please be sure to contact Northwoods Poultry and you will be reimbursed for the full value of the deceased birds. To receive the refund your chicks must have been picked up within one hour after arrival to your local post office. Please remember, Northwoods Poultry must be notified of the loss within 48 hours after you physically receive the birds. Additionally, a digital photo of any deceased birds are required to be emailed to email@example.com.
Due to the fragile nature of shipped eggs, we do not under any circumstances guarantee hatchability.
We do offer the Marek’s vaccine. The cost is an additional $2 per chick. Please specify when ordering if you would like your birds to receive the vaccine. The vaccine can only be administered to day-old chicks.
Marek’s vaccine is not 100% effective and even vaccinated birds may later come down with Marek’s disease.
Please note: Marek’s can be present in established backyard flocks. Such birds may be carriers, but not exhibit the symptoms of Marek’s, and could have developed resistance to the disease. On certain occasions, several months after you receive your birds they will show symptoms of disease. Without question, the disease did NOT originate from Northwoods Poultry and ALL birds are shipped disease free.
Northwoods Poultry is part of the National Poultry Improvement Plan and our farm is inspected twice a year by a member of the Ohio Department of Agriculture. All birds are regularly tested. Please note: It is very difficult to determine the origin of a disease in a flock, and even expert pathologists often struggle to identify the precise origin of a disease.
The following are common disease pathways into your flock:Wild birds, wild animals, poultry swap meets, poultry shows, fairs, and people visiting your property after exposure to poultry elsewhere.
All orders are shipped Tuesdays via USPS only.
We ship live birds via priority mail express. Priority mail express can take up to 3 days for delivery. This is the fastest, most efficient form of delivery for live animals.
Even though priority mail express is a guaranteed service, USPS does NOT apply the guarantee to live animals. Unfortunately, you cannot be reimbursed for your shipping costs.
Shipped hatching eggs are shipped priority mail. This service can take up to 3 days. All boxes are marked fragile.
We require prompt payment in full upon order placement.
Unfortunately, we cannot take credit cards over the phone, but will send an invoice to your email that can be paid with credit card, debit card, or a PayPal account.
If you would like to mail a check for payment, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (937) 474-5869, and the details can be arranged. Any on-farm pick-ups must be arranged over email or phone.
Shipping and Cancellations
It is very difficult to predict laying rates, hatch rates, and fertility.
We do our best to estimate delivery dates, but it is ONLY an estimate.
Once your order is paid in full, you will be given a month in which your order will be shipped. This is only an estimate and orders are shipped in order of payment received. Before your order is shipped, you will receive an email conformation letting you know when your order will ship and a tracking number after it ships.
Please Note: Northwoods Poultry is not a commercial hatchery. We are a family owned farm. The majority of our breeds consist of only a few hens, who may quit laying for no apparent reason. Unfortunately, we have no control over this, so please be patient.
If we cannot ship your order within that laying season, we will refund your money in full.
If you decide to cancel your order for any reason, a 20% cancellation fee will apply.
